A BIT OF HISTORY
We met while working to develop the autonomy in learning program in the Alternative University where more than 500 young professionals upgraded the way they learn.
In a follow-up focus group participants stated that becoming autonomous in learning impacted their lives for the better helping them with:
- being more balanced – “I know better what I want and I make decisions accordingly”
- self-discipline – “I use more easily self management tools”
- an increased joy for learning – “I set learning objectives constantly, I talk to others about my learning and I challenge them to talk about theirs sharing more in order to learn together”
The Alternative University is a student-centered organization that focuses on supporting students while they transform themselves and the world around them in the process of finding the context in which they can be in their “element”.
UA successfully applies the concepts of self-directed learning and working on it got us inspired to bring this concepts to a broader audience.
